Alkan TURNACILAR was born in 1976 in Istanbul. He graduated from Dokuz Eylül University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Economics in 1999. In 2000, he completed the military service. Between 2001-2003, he worked in finance and accounting departments of various firms in Izmir. Then, He went to abroad, studied English and Spanish, trained as a Chartered Certified Accountant, and at the same time served as an operational staff in the begining, then operation supervisor and finally operations manager in an international marketing firm.

In addition, in the same period of time, he worked as a volunteer interpreter for the immigrants from Turkey.

In 2007, He worked as foreign trade manager in Istanbul and returned to İzmir in 2008 and worked as a marketing manager for a German firm in the region (English speaking countries) until March of 2009. During his tenure, he traveled to India and worked there for 3 months in the fields of Customer Relations Management, Tele-Marketing and Internet Marketing.

Since March 2009, he has started to work as the Advisor to the Board of Directors in the Aegean Region Chamber of Industry. During his tenure, he worked in the areas of Organized Industrial Zones, Energy, Project, Corporate Communications and International Relations. When he was working at the Chamber, He participated the course organized by the Turkish Foreign Trade Foundation and was awarded the title of “Foreign Trade Expert” as the result of the exam. In February 2010, Alkan Turnacilar, who received the Business Plan, Feasibility and Project Management training, was awarded the title of “Project Specialist”. Later, he continued to work as the Project Consultant in Aegean Region Chamber of Industry. He prepared national and international projects during the mission. In March 2011, when he was working as the Project Consultant, his routes with the Aegean Region Chamber of Industry were separated.

In April 2011, he participated in the Applied Entrepreneurship Training organized by KOSGEB- Small and Medium Industry Development Organization and received the Start-up Grant Certificate.

Between May 2011 and November 2011, Alkan TURNACILAR was serving as the foreign trade manager at the manufacturer of leather machines and elevator machines, participated in the Interlift 2011 fair in Germany as a representative of the company.

Alkan TURNACILAR, who has founded Hermes International Consulting Marketing and Trading in January 2012 with KOSGEB Entrepreneurship Support, has been serving Private Companies and Institutions and Public Institutions on the fields of Management Consultancy, SME and Start-up Consultancy, Turkish Republic Government Subsidies, Investment Incentives, EU Grant Projects on national and international arena.

Alkan TURNACILAR, who first performed service exports in 1995, is currently importing and exporting goods and services.

At present, He is registered with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the United Nations (UN) as a service provider in the areas of SME, Management and Investment Consulting.

In October 2014, he had 1 month study and review visit according to the Vocational and Technical Training Programs and the field of applications offered to the unemployed EU citizens in Greece within the framework of “Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs”, which was carried out by the Coordinator of the Governorship of Aydın in that period.

Alkan TURNACILAR was also awarded the title of “Honorary Ambassador” by the European Union supported European Student Network (ESN-Mov’in Europe) based in Brussels, ​​which is the first from İzmir.

In 2016, he participated in the SME Mentoring Program organized by TÜBİTAK and was awarded the title of “SME Mentor”. In the same period, EMCC-European Mentoring and Coaching Council Turkey Branch was accepted him as a Mentor.

Alkan TURNACILAR was elected with the votes of the members to the Executive Board of the Committee of the Provincial Young Entrepreneurs, which is coordinated by TOBB – Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey.

He is fluent in English, beginner in Spanish and Russian.

He continuously support “Young Bilinguals Volunteer Group” through social networks, which was established during his working period in Greece to encourage young people to communicate in English with confidence.

He is member of İzmir Chamber of Commerce, TOBB Young Entrepreneurs Board, Kızılay, Lösev and City Council as NGOs and participates in volunteer works.  His hobbies can be summarized as amateur sea activities (amateur captain), motorcycle riding (Motorbike Federation Referee), traveling, listening Turkish Classical Music, electronic, Classical, 80’s and Latin tunes, reading, researching and working.
